MARGARET BOURKE-WHITE 1931 ZEPPELIN PHOTOGRAPH U.S.S. AKRON TROPHY DURALUMIN FRAME

 This original Margaret Bourke-White photograph of the United States Airship "Akron" is SIGNED in the lower right hand corner by the famed 20th Century photographer. The frame on this amazing and unique photo is actually made of part of the airship. The inscription plaque reads:- WINNER - URBANA VULC. CO. THIRD ANNUAL GOODYEAR DEALERS ZEPPELIN RACE JULY-AUGUST 1931 THIS FRAME IS MADE OF DURALUMIN USED IN THE GIRDER CONSTRUCTION OF THE UNITED STATES AIRSHIP "AKRON" BUILT BY THE GOODYEAR ZEPPELIN CORPORATION. Usually seen with the name Akron on the badge, this one is unique being a trophy award. This "iconic photograph of American aviation" captures the Goodyear zeppelin U.S.S. AKRON still in air dock prior to its maiden flight. This rare photograph is certainly one of the best known of Bourke-White's work...AND IT'S SIGNED! The entire framed photograph measures 26" wide by 20.5" high.This photo is in excellent condition with no tears or foxing and does not have any yellowing at all. The frame is in perfect original condition as well.
